Alaska is a large and beautiful state to visit and live in; however, it's Alaska, and weather conditions can change at a moment's notice depending on where you are visiting.

Alaska's seasons are Late and early winter, but seriously there are about 3 to 4 months of summer and there are no guarantees what the weather will be like so be prepared.

There are some things to consider when traveling around the state.

Summertime (June through August)

If you plan to do a lot of hiking

Bug repellent - Mosquito's the Alaska State Bird, just kidding, but really, they are quite large!
Rain Gear
Hiking shoes or boots
Bear spray ... YIKES!
Sunglasses ... Yes, in the summer it's always daytime!

Wintertime (Oct thru April/May)

When traveling to any location in Alaska

Warm clothes
- Coats, Hats (that cover your ears), gloves, boots.
Extra water, food, and blankets when driving.
Hand warmers are nice to have.
Flashlight(s) and Headlamp(s)
A full tank of gas, and if traveling a long distance map out your next fueling station.
